During my 20 plus years as a hearing instrument specialist, I’ve found that most patients who visit our Inland Hearing Aids clinics are often unaware that they suffer from any form of hearing loss.

One of the main reasons for this is that hearing loss tends to be a gradual process, taking place across an extended period of time.

Unless the patient is involved in an accident or is perhaps near a loud explosion, very rarely will the quality of the patient’s hearing drop suddenly and by such a dangerous level.

Inland Hearing Aids truly cares about your wellbeing, and we wish that our patients continue to live in the greatest of health. That’s why we highly recommend all patients arrange an annual hearing examination.

A yearly check-up will ensure that your family’s hearing remains a priority and will also offer you peace of mind, knowing that they are being provided with the best care.

Whether you’ve recently had, are due, or are considering booking a hearing test, there are a few common signs of hearing loss you can look out for yourself.

5 Common Signs of Hearing Loss

1. You Struggle to Follow a Conversation in a Crowded Crea.

With the ongoing global crisis and the recommendation that you avoid busy pedestrian areas altogether, this test might not be the best to carry out during the present time. However, if in the past you’ve noticed having to regularly ask your spouse to repeat their sentence because the noise of a crowded area is making it hard to understand, this can be a sign of hearing loss.

This could be the case if you find your spouse can hear what you’re saying in similar circumstances.

If you think you or your loved one suffers from this, book an appointment with us at Inland Hearing Aids, and we will help put your mind at rest.

2. Your Ears Regularly Feel Clogged or Blocked.

Any noticeable change in how your ears feel is certainly worth having checked out by your hearing specialist. More often than not, it’ll be a cold or perhaps a mild ear infection that we can easily treat but it can also be a result of earwax build-up.

However, on occasion, this can result from something more serious, and it’s for that reason, we recommend you arrange an appointment. We can solve the problem together and offer you peace of mind.

3. You Find Yourself Avoiding Social Situations.

If you find that during social situations, you struggle to follow conversations or find yourself frustrated when people can’t quite understand what you mean, the adrenaline your body creates during these stressful situations can make your hearing worse.

The higher your stress levels, the lower the amount of blood that’s being directed toward your inner ear, upsetting the fine balance of oxygen and nutrients needed to sustain your hearing.

If you regularly become frustrated or have in the past avoided social situations for these or similar reasons, please don’t hesitate to contact us here.

4. You Struggle with Your Hearing.

This, of course, might seem a little obvious. Still, if you’ve noticed a gradual increase in television volume, perhaps your family asks you regularly why the TV is so loud, or you struggle to follow a casual conversation, these are common signs of hearing loss, and it might be worth your while to make an appointment with us.
